Thin Film Engineer/Scientist Job Description

This job opening is to support Corning Specialty Materials Division’s coating business in China.  The location will be based in ShenZhen, 20-40% travel is required. 

Hiring Manager: Mike Ouyang ( ouyangmx@corning.com)

Key Responsibilities:

  Be able to work at both production and engineering development environment.

  Provide development and manufacturing support to DLP windows, display and energy related products

  Other responsibility includes operation, training, documentation, yield monitoring, improvement, and trouble shooting of equipment and process. In addition to establishing and monitoring process and product yield metrics.

  Optical coating design and process development for new products.

Skills/requirement:

  B.A. with 3 to 5 years industrial experience in thin film field or

Master or Ph.D. is required for less experienced applicant. 

  Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in English and Chinese to all skill levels (from operators to technical and business managers) 

  Leadership, honest, innovative, flexible.

  Hands on operation and knowledge of thin film deposition systems and techniques, particularly e-beam and Ion Assisted Deposition.  Other knowledge in sputtering, and CVD is a plus.

  There must also be a strong foundation in optics, including hands-on laboratory skills ranging from experience with lasers and light sources, detectors and various forms of optical metrology instruments, to optical system design, breadboarding, and prototyping.

  Familiar with any of thin film simulation software (Tfcal, Essential Macleod, Optilayer, and/or Film Wizard). Knowledge in ZEMAX optical system design is a plus.

  Optical measurement and metrology skills is a must

  Design and verify robust manufacturing tooling and methods.

  Ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment

  Knowledge of Clean Room protocol

  Understand and experience to glass finishing is a plus.

  Strong background in vacuum system theory and use
