International Paper was organized in 1898 and is a global forest products, pap
er and packaging company that is complemented by an extensive North American m
erchant distribution system, with primary markets and manufacturing operations
 in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia. Our global headquarters
 are in Memphis, Tennessee, The company has 55,100 employees 33,700 of whom ar

International Paper had sales in 2005 of $24.1 billion and is ranked No. 71 am

International Paper has plans to grow its overseas business in the next few ye
ars to 50% of its total revenue. Asia is widely recognized as a region with la

er has taken steps to support its growth in the Asian market including relocat
ing its Asia headquarters from Hong Kong to Shanghai and acquiring full owners
hip of a previous joint venture with Pacific Millennium.

g Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, Thailand and Korea. These operations cover var
