上海半岛酒店的总建築面积共92,160平方米（地面以上楼层占55,974平方米，地库占36,180平方米），位於上海中山东一路32号，面向著名的外滩。酒店落成後将会是一座15层高的建築物，包括250间客房、叁间餐厅、宴会设施、一间水疗中心、购物商场以及一座独立的住宅大楼。
L 型的酒店地盘面对充满历史韵味的外滩，位处独特的外滩源内、饱览外滩、黄浦江、浦东和前英国领使馆花园的景色。酒店东临外滩，南向北京路，西对圆明园路，而北面则是前英国领使馆花园。
酒店由纽约著名建筑师楼BBG/ Architects 所设计。酒店设计跟外滩的地标建筑的古雅风格融汇一体、互相辉映。
上海半岛酒店的室内设计由巴黎设计师Pierre-Yves Rochon 担纲。其灵感取自上世纪二十及三十年代的艺术装饰风尚，那时期正是上海被视为「东方巴黎」的「黄金时代」。与此同时，酒店的室内设计在古典的风格上细心揉合了当代的元素，并突显「半岛特色」，将在一个温文尔雅年代所营造的传统典雅环境与最先进的现代科技完美结合起来。
预期酒店将於2009年落成。

Join The Peninsula Ambassador Programme
The Peninsula Hotels operate eight award-winning hotels in Hong Kong,New York Chicago, Beverly Hills, Tokyo, Bangkok, Beijing and Manila. The latest addition will be the Peninsula Shanghai-opening in 2009. It fronts the historic Bund and is in the exclusive Waitan Yuan area.

We provide ten months customized training(from Autumn 2008)at our flagship hotel, The Peninsula Hong Kong and The Peninsula Beijing. Upon graduation, successful candidates will become a pre-opening team member at The Peninsula Shanghai.
