Group Overview
MSR Asia Innovation Engineering is committed to ensuring Microsoft customers benefit from breakthrough innovations developed with leading researchers in our lab. The group is home to Internet Economics, a set of projects focused on deployment-based research and new value creation models that use the Internet as a platform.
Roles & Responsibilities
Conduct research on economic topics related to the Internet. Work with Microsoft Research managers, consultants, other students and software engineers on topics which may be related to online commerce, gaming, media, social networking or other areas as agreed. Your work may have visibility to senior management at Microsoft Research Asia and may offer opportunities for publication or deployment.
Required Qualifications
We are looking for:
1. Ph.D candidates who are strong in research, analytical, business and strategic thinking.
2. A passion for research with exceptional quantitative skills is required, including mathematical background in economics such as econometrics, mathematics, or statistics.
3. An understanding of concepts from business, social sciences, and/or economics is required. Preference in hiring will be given to students with top grades jn graduate level university courses in these subjects, or equivalent experience.
4. Candidates should be self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and curious. Candidates will be thoughtful about current trends and their potential impact on business and society.
5. You must be good at both reading and writing in English. Good oral communication skills, including English, is also required.
6. You need to be available to work full time for at least 5.5 months.
