发一下汇丰电子SAP职位的面经

I took part in the interview held by GLTc of HSBC on Dec.9th, 2005.
Now, I'd like to say something about it.
The interview would begin at 3:00 on schedule. So I arrived at the
place at about 2:40. The HR assistant led me to the outside of the
office and made me seated. There was a student waiting outside and
another one was being interviewed in the office. After sitting down, I
talked with him. He's a student from Zhongshan University. He would be
interviewed at 2:30 on schedule, but because of someone who had been
interviewed for about an hour, the interview would have to be delayed.
Soon, the interviewee left and he was asked to enter the office.
Then, another student who would be following me arrived. He's a student
from Guangdong University of Foreign Language. Also, I talked with him.
After about 20 minutes, the student from Zhongshan University left and I
was asked to enter the office.
The interviewer was Jackson Yu, HR manager of GLTc in the area of
asia-pacific, together with two assistants. He first asked me to give
him my resumes and asked me to sit down. Then the interview began.
He looked through my resume and application form and asked me what
my major was about. I was majoring in Information Engineering, which
concerned something about hardware, telecommunications, electronics and
so on. I answered him directly. After that, he said I was not studying
software, there was something mismatching. I said what I was majoring
was in the field of Information Technology, and I did well in most of
the courses at university, so I didn't think I would be worse than the
students who studied software. He nodded but asked me whether there were
other corporations in which I had applied for a job. I told him I ever
applied for a job in NORTEL. He asked about my choice if I would be
offered the jobs by both GLTc and NORTEL. I said that I would prefer to
work for GLTc. He asked about the reason. Since I had ever prepared the
question before, I answered him easily. He continued to look through my
resume and application form. I had written in the application form that
I would hope to work in the field of Information Technology. He pointed
it out and asked me in what exact field I would hope to work. I said I
hoped to work as a Systems Analyst/Programmer(SAP). He nodded and asked
me what the job was about. I told him I might concern something about
programming, software testing, software planning and so on if I could be
able to get the position.
Then he asked me about the procedure of software engineering. I had
read some information about software engineering, so I answered him
fluently. After hearing my answer, he nodded again and asked me what to
do in order to make the software testing part easier. I hadn't prepared
anything about the question before the interview, but I tried my best to
think about it. I said that one should program in the way obeying some
laws of programming. But he didn't seem to be satisfied with my answer.
I tried hard to think about how to answer the question. Suddenly,
something came to my mind. I told him one should make some postil during
programming. He nodded and asked me whether there was anything more. I
still tried hard to think about it and told him one should write some
documentation. Again, he nodded and asked whether there was anything
more. But I could think out nothing more. He asked what one should pay
special attention to when one was doing the part of software planning. I
said one should communicate with the client. Then he asked what I would
do if the client changed his/her mind all the time. I tried hard to
think about the answer, but he didn't agree with what I answered at all.
I failed in answering this question.
The interview continued.
Jackson Yu asked me to state an example that could show my teamwork
spirit. I ever took part in Electronics Designing Competition. So I
described the situation how we cooperated with each other. Then, he
asked me about the differences between hardware engineering and software
engineering. I hadn't prepared anything about it, either. In a minute, I
didn't know how to answer the question, but I still tried hard to think
about it. I thought for a while and said something, but he didn't seem
to agree with me. Again, I thought for a while and said something. He
nodded and continued to look through my resume. He asked why I took part
in the TOEIC. I said TOEIC is the kind of tests that could show one's
ability of English. He seemed to be satisfied with my answer. (I got a
good mark in the TOEIC, ha-ha.)
Jackson Yu asked his assistants whether they had any questions to
ask. Then I turned my face to the two assistants.
One assistant asked me what career goal I was aiming at. I told him
that I hope to be a member concerning management in GLTc. Then he asked
what I would do before I reached the goal. I said I would drill in
technology. He nodded.
The other assistant asked me what the happiness was and what the
difficulty was when I program something. I said that I would have to pay
much attention to some detailed parts, which would be annoying
sometimes. The happiness is that when I succeed in programming something
after working hard, I would feel greatly happy.
They both stopped asking questions. And Jackson Yu asked whether I
had any questions to ask.
I asked what extra work I should do before I could work for GLTc.
Jackson Yu told me to study well and graduate on time. If possible, I
might read something about software engineering.
Then I asked how long I had to wait before I knew whether they
employed me or not. He told me that they would send offer letter in Jan.
I could think out no more questions to ask. Jackson Yu thanked me
for the interview and said I could leave then.
The whole interview lasted for about half an hour. About half of the
questions were asked in English, the other half in Cantonese. If one
wants to apply for the position of SAP in GLTc of HSBC, one should know
some English(and Cantonese) and something about software engineering.
Try one's best to be calm and be confident during the interview.
